Exciting events to experience with your other half in 2019.

With 2018 done and dusted, it’s time to forget the old and think about some fresh date ideas for the new year. If ditching the usual dinner and movie for something more exciting is one of the things you’d like to try this year, here’s a list of events to consider checking out in 2019.
January
Enter a world full of colour and new perspectives at the seventh edition of Singapore Art Week (19 to 27 January). On top of exhibitions, performances, and classes (there will be more than 100 events happening over nine whole days!), this signature celebration of visual arts will also feature thought-provoking installations at selected locations across Singapore.

February
Take a stroll around areas like Marina Bay and Fort Canning Park with your loved one during iLight Singapore (28 January to 24 February). This time the festival theme is “Bridges of Time”, and the annual light show will feature 32 artworks, including an immersive multimedia show with lights, lasers, and projections on water.

March
History comes alive at the Singapore Heritage Festival (9 to 23 March), a yearly event that celebrates Singapore’s history and culture through tours, performances, and exploratory journeys into the hidden pasts of our neighbourhoods. This year’s festival commemorates the Singapore Bicentennial and will take participants on a reflective journey through 700 years of Singapore’s history.

April
Divers and divers-to-be, head to the annual ADEX (11 to 14 April) for great deals on dive gear, trips, and even classes. Also, look forward to workshops and presentations by marine conservationists and underwater photographers.

May
Expect nothing but good vibes at the Glow Festival (25 May). From yoga sessions and fitness masterclasses in the day to live music performances by international and local artists in the evening, there’s bound to be something to leave you feeling energised and invigorated at this feel-good festival.

June
Ultra Music Festival is one of the world’s biggest outdoor electronic music fiestas and it’s set to return in 2019 for its fourth edition in Singapore. From 8 to 9 June, expect big DJs and acts to helm the decks while partygoers dance away non-stop at Singapore’s very own Ultra Park.

July
The month-long Singapore Food Festival is here once again. From 12 to 28 July, get ready to chew on a dizzying array of local delights (some of which feature an interesting modern twist) at STREAT, the signature event of the festival. Be sure to also check out other fringe events, including the 50 Cents Fest, where you can sample wallet-friendly bites, and a variety of “experiential treats” involving dance, film and more! August
Pale ale, stout, lager, pilsner, porter – if these terms are familiar to you, then don’t miss Beerfest Asia. It’s your chance to try old favourites, discover new labels, bite into fabulous bar food, and even check out interesting beer-related workshops by established brew masters and brand ambassadors. Are you the foodie couple that needs some inspiration? Drop by the World Food Fair (12 to 15 September), a culinary affair featuring an array of treats from over 200 food and beverage establishments. Take on Singapore’s most terrifying Halloween event at Universal Studios Singapore’s Halloween Horror Nights where all things spooky, weird, and wonderful come to life.
