Accreditation Criteria and Standards for Dating Agencies

The Accreditation Criteria and Standards for Dating Agencies form the checklist against which dating agencies will be assessed in order to achieve accreditation. During the assessment, dating agencies are required to demonstrate that they have met the Accreditation Criteria and Standards.

Agency’s Identification and Disclosure of Business Practices

This standard sets forth the requirement for the agency to provide sufficient information about itself to enable clients to identify the agency. Such information includes agency’s information, profile of the agency’s owners and key personnel, mission statement of the agency, disclosure of their general business practices such as membership scheme, criteria used for matchmaking, pricing, agency policy and refund policy and cooling-off period. The standards required of the agency’s advertising and promotions are also covered in this section.

Commitment to Training and Development

This standard sets forth the requirement for the agency to ensure that dating practitioners take up the prescribed Singapore Workforce Development Agency’s (WDA) Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) training as well as participate in upgrading programmes to continuously enhance their skills and knowledge.

Information Practices and Security

This standard sets forth the requirement for the agency to adhere to guidelines relating to the collection, verification and use of clients’ personal information and ensure the confidentiality and security of clients’ personal information.

Service Recovery and Dispute Resolution

This standard sets forth the requirement for the agency to provide information on how clients can lodge a complaint, adhere to guidelines for responding to the complaints and have in place a system for monitoring complaints.

Commitment to Service Excellence

This standard sets forth the requirement for the agency to have good service delivery plans for their dating activities and services, as well as putting in place a service quality evaluation plan for the dating services provided.

Code of Professional Conduct for Dating Agencies

The Code of Professional Conduct for Dating Agencies serves to guide dating agencies in the performance of their professional responsibilities. It expresses the basic tenets of professional and ethical conduct that the agency has to abide by.

Principles of Good Business Practices

The principles of good business practices contain the guidelines on the agency’s conduct in areas such as the disclosure of terms and conditions of the dating service, making truthful and accurate representation, displaying the agency’s policy and refund policy, and providing clear pricing and payment terms.

Principles for Good Sales, Advertising and Promotion Practices

The principles of good sales, advertising and promotion tactics contain guidelines that the agency should adhere to, such as engaging in truthful advertising and promotions, and the requirements to comply with existing legislation and regulation.

Principles of Professional Development

The principles of professional development outline the basic responsibilities of the agency to ensure that only qualified practitioners are engaged for the delivery of dating services as well as the need to continuously seek professional advancement to keep up with the latest developments in the dating industry.

Principles of Ensuring Privacy and Information Security

The principles of ensuring privacy and information security outline the information practices that the agency should adopt in order to maintain the confidentiality and security of personal information relating to clients.

Principles of Redress and Monitoring Mechanisms

The principles of redress and monitoring mechanism outline the framework and procedures for resolving disputes that arise between the agency and its clients.
